Eugenia M. “Jean” (Friedel) Goweay, 81, of Rockport, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her home.
Jean was born in Rockport, on April 18, 1939, to the late Cecil and Mary Alice (Layman) Friedel.
She was a member of Larkin Baptist Church in Rockport. Jean had worked at various law firms doing title abstracts. She loved to collect antiques and Coca-Cola items and was an avid reader.
She loved her grandkids and great-grandkids dearly.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Bruce Goweay, who passed away in 2014; her sister, Sue Biddle; and her half-sisters, Margaret Jane Ashcraft, Cecil Ann Collins and Sarah Hill.
She is survived by her children, Joni Stockhecke and her husband Eric, Jenny Hardy and her husband, Kenny, and Julie Purcell; her grandchildren, Logan Brock and his wife, Shelby, Camille Hughes and her husband, Sgt. 1st Class Justin Hughes, and Brianna Gaddy and her husband, Staff Sgt. Jonathan Gaddy; her great-grandchildren, A’Nylah Hughes, Natalee Hughes, Bryce Hughes, Jameson Hughes, Benjamin Andrew Gaddy and Beau Brock; and her special friend, Faye Williams.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, February 27, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
