Joan L. Calhoun, 70, of Rockport, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Linda E. White Hospice House with her two daughters by her side.
Joannie was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on June 5, 1953, to the late Elden “Cleon” and Dorothy (Rowen) Lindsey.
She was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church and was the retired owner of Joannie’s Hail and Nail Design.
In addition to her parents, Joannie was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Dane Calhoun, and brother Eldon “Panny” Lindsey, Jr.
Joannie loved her family, especially her girls and grandbabies, she enjoyed shopping and visiting any casino with her girlfriends.
Joannie is survived by her daughters Joshalyn (Moe) Sutton and Jaharidan Calhoun and fiancé Ebon Green, Jr., her grandchildren, Gabrielle, Dominic, Emanie and Sydney; her siblings Sharon Macon and Marsha (Robert) Williams, as well as her nieces, nephew, great-nephew and great-niece.
A Homegoing celebration is to be held at Smithfield Baptist Church in Rockport at 12 p.m. Thursday, November 9, with Rev. Corneilus Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Rockport.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the Homegoing celebration at 12 p.m. Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport has been charged with care for the services.
