John James “Jimmie” Johnson, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the home of his daughter, Cynthia Berg and her fiancé Roger Beard, in Chandler.

Jimmie was born in Manchester, Kentucky on September 3, 1935, to John G. and Cecil R. (Johnson) Johnson.

Jimmie and Joyce loved going camping. They spent many winters in Florida enjoying the sunshine and warmth. He truly loved taking his grandkids camping. He loved his family and made them his top priority.

Jimmie was a 50 + year member of the Masonic Lodge in Spencer County.

He farmed all his life except for the time he attended Purdue University to study agriculture. After retiring from farming, Jimmie started driving a semi, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He got to know so many people hauling grain, fertilizer and coal. Jimmie retired from truck driving to care for his wife until her passing in 2020.

Jimmie was on the board of directors for Southern Indiana REC for many years. He was also on the committee for ASCS/Soil & Water Conservation for many years.

In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce J. Johnson; his brothers, Bennie Johnson and Michael Johnson; and his in-laws, Eugene and Marie Patmore.

Jimmie is survived by his children, Ron (Janet) and Cynthia (Roger); his grandchildren, Jake Knepper (Tennille), Jennifer Siukola (Dave), Phillip Knepper (Alisha), and James A. Johnson; his great-grandchildren, Wyatt Knepper, Lenny Knepper, Lilly Siukola, Alena Knepper and James M. Siukola; and his sister, Jean (Henry) Taylor.

Services were held Saturday, June 28, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home – Youngblood Chapel in Chrisney, with a Masonic service. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chrisney.
