Richard Orville Michel, 78, passed away peacefully at home on Michel Hill on June 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 2, 1946, in Gibson County, to Walter Carl and Mabel Coreen (Stunkel) Michel.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Betty Rose (Tanner) Michel, and granddaughters, Sophia Corinne and Grace Marie Jackson.
He is survived by his children, Carla (Steed) Jackson, Rachel (Ed) Kilroy, Becca (Manny) Manolov and Bryan (Jill) Michel. Richard also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Tanner, Campbell, William, and Margot Jackson; Eban, Camden, and Addison Kilroy; Lucy and George Manolov; and Mabel and Macoy Michel. He is also survived by his siblings, Ida (Warren) Miller, David (Janet) Michel, Byron Michel, Stanley (Joyce) Michel and Steven (Sherry) Michel.
Visitation will be held at Cornerstone Church Chrisney on Saturday, July 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. CDT with memorial service to follow at 4:15 p.m. A private family burial will take place at a later date at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Fort Branch.
