Joseph Richard Moredock, 80, passed away on December 24, 2024, at 3:12 p.m. in Atlanta, GA surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 2, 1944, in Rockport.
Joseph was a U.S. Army Veteran, where he embraced the discipline and camaraderie that military life offered. After his service, he channeled his leadership skills into founding and managing Moredock Trucking Inc., a company that thrived under his guidance. He also worked for 13 years at Hyster Company before starting his trucking company.
Joseph’s life was marked by his dedication to his family and his career, leaving behind a legacy of strong values and commitment.
He was a long-time member of The Atomic Jets Motorcycle Club in Peoria, Illinois where he loved to ride.
Joseph grew up in Peoria Heights, Illinois for most of his life, before retiring to Crawfordsville, Arkansas, and recently moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he passed away.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie; daughters, Margaret Moredock and Tanya (Kourtney) Mack; one son, Rick Moredock; five grandchildren, Dedric, Rick and Jaylen Moredock, Kaevion Mack and Andrea Akwete; one great-grandson, Major Mack; siblings Rosiland (Danny) Swain and Phillip (Victoria) Moredock. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Minnie Moredock; siblings ,Sandra Roberson, Farrell Moredock, Nancy Moredock Smith and Joan Randle; and a grandson Kameron Moredock-Mack.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Services are 12 p.m. Friday, January 3, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Carl Jones officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
