Larry Wayne Blair, 76, of Hatfield, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 2, 2025. He was born September 8, 1948, in Boonville to Sylvester and Virginia (Robbins) Blair. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Jacob Short.

Larry graduated from South Spencer High School in 1966, Sams Technical Institute in 1968 and WKU in 1972, majoring in Industrial Arts. He later earned his master’s degree from ISU in Human Resources.

Larry was a member of the Union Millwright (Local 1080), where he was the millwright apprentice instructor. He taught at Ivy Tech where he was president of the Teacher Association. Additionally, Larry taught at North High School where he helped the students build a car to race in Indianapolis at the Super Mileage Race. He was also an educator at Charleston High School in Charleston and finally, an instructor at the Branchville Correctional Facility for Oakland City University.

Larry loved flying his ultralight airplane and his Honda Goldwing. He made lots of memorable motorcycles rides with wife, friends and Rolling Thunder. Larry had a passion for history, music, concerts, the mountains, the beach and his Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Brothers.

Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Vicki Jo (Arnold); brother, Mike of Richland; sisters, Genna Sue (Perry) Magan of Owensboro, Kentucky and Carol Blair of Reo; daughter, Christina Short (Richie) of Hagerstown, MD; son, Joshua Williams of Chandler; granddaughter, Chelsie Short of Greencastle, PA; grandsons, Justice and Tristan (Cynthia) Williams, Hatfield; and six great-grandchildren.

Larry will be cremated and a celebration of life held at a later time. The family wants to give special thanks to Deaconess Hospice. “They were a wonderful gift to us.”
