Mathew Gaug named Memorial Hospital Vice President and CIO

Mathew Gaug, MSIS, CHCIO, ITMLE has been named Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. The change in leadership took effect on August 1.

Gaug received a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in information systems from Baker College in Flint, Michigan. He previously served as chief information officer/executive director of information technology at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio. He also served as director of information technology at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Gaug is a certified healthcare CIO and IT management and leadership executive. He is also a certified lean six sigma black belt, ethical hacker, and information systems security professional.

Gaug chose Memorial Hospital because of “how apparent the mission and vision are lived throughout the organization, along with the journey to excellence processes that are in place. It made me want to join the team and contribute! My wife and I really enjoyed the city of Jasper on our visits and wanted to bring our girls to this kind of town.” 

Gaug and his wife, Charleigh, have three daughters: Maddy, 13; Izzy, 12; and Ellie, 10.

Gaug concluded, “I feel very blessed to be here, and I’m excited to work towards an integrated electronic medical record and bring new technology practices to Memorial Hospital.”
