Norma Deane “Deanie” Carter passed away Monday, March 23, 2020.
Deanie, as she was known by family and friends, had celebrated her 86th birthday on Sunday, March 22, at her home with a small party.
She was born in Rockport on March 22, 1934, to the late William and Sally (Dooley) Baker.
Deanie, or as she was jokingly called, “Crazy Old Woman”, loved to laugh. You could hear her laughing throughout the house. She also loved to listen to Alan Jackson. She enjoyed going places, like shopping at Goodwill and eating out at Long John Silver’s. She also enjoyed going to Tell City to see Cindy at Herbs and Health Care, LLC. She owned a 2007 Dodge Charger of which she was very proud. She also collected dolls and had 75 to 100 of them. She also enjoyed riding and driving her Rhino UTV.
She had been an abstractor for a title company.
Survivors include her daughter, Tonya Pershing and her husband, Chris; granddaughter, Miranda Davis and her fiancé, Donnie Phelps; great-granddaughters, Jaden Rose and Jalyn Davis; and great friend, Ernie Blythe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Denver “Pete” Carter, and her companion of 24 years, Donald “Donnie” Downey.
A private funeral service for Norma Deane “Deanie” Carter will be held on Friday, March 27, with Pastor Carl Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport.
