Robert Allen O’Risky, 91, of Rockport, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Mt. Vernon Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mt. Vernon.
Robert was born in Evansville on May 23, 1932, to Chauncey, Sr. and Elsie (Cain) O’Risky.
Robert was a graduate of Reitz High School and Oakland City University. He joined the United States Navy at 17 years of age, serving in Korea from September 1950 to November 1951, then serving on Admiral Cassidy’s 6th fleet staff in the Mediterranean Sea.
Robert attended Bethel Christian Center and was a member of Richland General Baptist Church, where he had pastored for a time in the 1960s, a volunteer chaplain at Branchville Correctional Facility for several years, and founded the Trust Jesus ministry in 1985, serving in this ministry until his passing. He had also worked at Sigeco for several years.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his siblings, Chauncey O’Risky Jr., Bill O’Risky, Stanley O’Risky, Mildred Williams, Phyllis Moorehead and James O’Risky.
Robert is survived by many loving family members, including his wife, Rebecca (Louden) O’Risky.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday, August 27, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Walter Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Alexander Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation is from 4 until 8 p.m. Saturday, August 26, and from 12. until 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
