Robert Lee Lindsey, 85, of Rockport, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Heart-to-Heart Hospice in Evansville, surrounded by family.
Robert was born in Rock- port July 4, 1939, to Enoch Lindsey Sr. and Mable (Grimes) Lindsey.
Robert was a member and deacon at Smithfield Baptist Church, a member of Halcyon Lodge # 7, had served on the Rockport City Council, Board of Public Works, and Ohio Township Trustee Board. He had also run for mayor of Rockport.
Robert retired from Whirlpool after 30 plus years of service. He loved to rabbit hunt, watch harness racing, and collect old things.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert E. Lindsey, who passed away on February 21, 2025, his great grand- son, Jarrod Robert Lindsey, Jr., and his eight siblings.
Robert is survived by his wife, Betty J. Lindsey; his children, E. Lorene Lindsey, Lindsey Lindsey f/k/a D. Lindsey (Debreia), Rich- ard Lindsey (Rachel), and Allison Butts (Derrick); his grandchildren, Jarrod Lindsey Sr., Justina Wilson, Natalie Snoddy, Whitney Carter, and Sierra Carter; seven great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, May 17, at Smithfield Baptist Church, 811 Seminary St., Rockport, with Pastor Corneilus Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation began with a Masonic Service.
