Rose Marie Braun, 84, of Evanston, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at her home.

She was born on February 23, 1941, in Perry County, daughter of the late Robert S. and Mary (Kleeman) Jarboe. Rose was united in marriage with Donald Braun on February 15, 1969. They shared 56 years together before his passing in 2018.

Rose was a 1959 graduate of Tell City High School and went on to obtain her nursing degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Evansville. During her working career, Rose was a surgical nurse in several local hospitals and later worked at Branchville Correctional Facility as a nurse.

She lived on a farm in Spencer County with her husband Don and their two children, Sherri and Kris. Rose loved being a mom and working on school projects with her children as they grew. She enjoyed gardening, canning and raising cattle and hogs on the farm. Rose and Don enjoyed resurrecting old homes that were on their last leg and bringing them back to their original beauty. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, helping cook dinners, hospitality meals and also teaching Sunday School. Rose was a cemetery sexton for several years as well.

Rose is survived by her son, Kris and daughter-in-law, Kristine Braun; grandson Austin Braun; granddaughters, Autumn and Ella Braun; sisters, Connie Hoffman, Linda Kramer and Kathy Epple; sister-in-law, Brenda Vaughn; brothers-in-law, Keith Kramer and Ronnie Boehman; along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Don Braun; daughter, Sherri; brother, Robert J. Jarboe; sister, Wilma Boehman; sister-in-law, Susan Jarboe; brothers-in-law, Dennis Hoffman, Greg Epple and Don Vaughn; and a nephew, Nick Phillips.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston. 

Visitation will be from 9 -11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with burial to follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pastor Steve Shank will officiate.
