Archabbot Kurt Stasiak, OSB, has announced that Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church in St. Meinrad will be closed for public prayer until further notice, as part of its efforts to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The decision follows the directives of Archbishop Charles Thompson, leader of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, in which the Archabbey is located. In his statement, Thompson noted that public celebrations of the Mass in Indiana were suspended until further notice.
“The monastic community will remain faithful to our commitment to daily prayer,” said Archabbot Kurt. “While we regret having to close our place of prayer to the public, we assure all of our continued prayers for their health and well-being.”
