Driver flees scene after rear-end collision
Ashley Spencer, 35, of Rockport, was northbound on SR 161 when she struck a black SUV that had slowed down in front of her to turn onto CR 440 S. However, according to both Spencer and a witness who was driving a vehicle behind her, the driver of the SUV immediately turned around after the accident and began traveling southbound on SR 161, leaving the scene. Police were unable to locate the SUV or the driver. Spencer was not injured in the May 26, 4:06 p.m. collision, but damage to her 2018 Jeep Wrangler was estimated between $5,000-10,000.
Right-angle collision at intersection
Jesus Gonzalez Landeros, 42, of Owensboro, KY, was southbound on SR 161 near Rockport when a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer driven by 29-year-old Andrea Zuck, also of Owensboro, pulled into his path from the intersection at Patronville Road, causing the two vehicles to collide. One witness to the accident reported that Zuck had failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection, while another reported that she had. Landeros was not injured in the accident, but Zuck was transported to Owensboro Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Damages in the May 31, 6:47 p.m. collision were estimated between $10,000-25,000.
Three vehicle collision
Three vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision on SR 66 near Rockport the morning of June 3. Dwayne Detzer, 57, of Chrisney, had stopped while attempting to turn right onto CR 350 W. As the driver behind him — 48-year-old Kevin Weaver of Grandview — also slowed down for Detzer to make his turn, Weaver’s 2017 Toyota Camry was struck from behind by a 2008 Mazda driven by 20-year-old Jase Otto of Tell City. The impact pushed Weaver’s vehicle into the back of Detzer’s 2013 Ram 1500. Otto later told authorities he did not notice that Weaver had slowed down. No one was injured in the collision, but total damages were estimated between $10,000-25,000.
Sideswipe
Matthew Rahm, 30, of Boonville, was westbound on CR 900 N when a 2009 Pontiac G6 driven by 49-year-old Franklin Arthur, Jr. entered his path of travel and struck his 2012 Dodge Ram pick-up. The impact caused Rahm to lose control of his vehicle, which then ran off the roadway and into a ditch. Arthur later told authorities he did not see Rahm’s truck as he entered the intersection. Neither driver was injured in the June 5, 11:50 a.m. collision, but total damages were estimated between $5,000-10,000.
