Rear end collision

Laurinda Fawks, 63, of Tell City, was southbound on SR 545 near Santa Claus when the vehicle driving in front of her came to a sudden stop due to a flagger stopping traffic in a construction area. When Fawks slammed on her brakes in order to avoid rear-ending the vehicle in front of her, her 2015 Chevrolet Equinox was struck from behind by a 2007 Chrysler Sebring driven by 19-year-old Averi Myers of Tell City. Myers had also hit her brakes but was unable to stop in time before rear-ending Fawks’ Equinox. Both drivers informed officers the flagger was in a bad area to attempt to slow or stop traffic, due to a curve in the roadway. No injuries were reported in the November 18, 3 p.m. collision, but total damages were estimated between $10,000-25,000.

Motorcyclist injured in accident

A deputy with the Sheriff’s Department investigated a single vehicle accident, involving a motorcycle, that occurred on Silverdale Road in Rockport at approximately 11:47 a.m. on November 21. According to the report, 39-year-old Joshua Adamic of Rockport was traveling at a high rate of speed (roughly 90 miles per hour) on his 1982 Honda VF750 motorcycle when he lost control and ran off the roadway into a ditch. A witness to the accident confirmed Adamic’s account of the accident. Adamic, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was transported to Owensboro Regional Health for treatment of his injuries; he was also issued citations for reckless driving and operating a vehicle without financial responsibility. Damage to Adamic’s motorcycle was estimated between $1,000-2,5000. Spencer County EMS and Ohio Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Alesha Kelley, 30, of Lynnville, was attempting to turn right off SR 66 in Rockport when her 2019 Toyota Highlander was struck from behind by a 2002 GM Sierra driven by 23-year-old Wyatt Morris of Grandview. Kelley informed officers she had hit her head on the steering wheel due to the impact but showed no visible injuries; she refused EMS treatment. Morris was not injured.
