Strikes utility pole
Braxton Gee, 18, of Evanston, was westbound on SR 66 near Grandview when he ran off the roadway. He then over-corrected, crossed the centerline and ran off the left side of the roadway, at which point he struck a utility pole. Gee was not injured in the September 14, 7:13 a.m. accident, but damage to his 1994 Chevrolet were estimated between $5,000-10,000.
Utility pole struck
Michael Stringer, 31, of Mineral Point, MO, was attempting to turn into the Casey’s parking lot in Dale when, he later told police, he cut too short and the trailer of the semi truck he was driving struck a light utility pole. Trying to ensure he wasn’t blocking the driveway, he then pulled forward, driving over the utility pole and bringing it to the ground, causing further damage to both the pole and the trailer he was pulling. The semi itself was not damaged and Stringer was uninjured. Total damage in the September 14, 7:19 a.m. accident was estimated between $5,000-10,000.
Rear-end collision
Sandra Stephens, 50, of Tennyson, had stopped at a stop sign at SR 68 and US 231 near Dale when her 2003 Chevy Impala was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Angela Evans of Holland. Evans allegedly told police she thought the vehicle in front of her was starting to move forward, so she started to proceed as well, causing her to strike Stephens’ car. Neither driver was injured in the September 16, 7:43 a.m. accident. Damages were estimated between $2,500-5,000.
Driver strikes ditch after being rear-ended
Amanda Bye, 32, of Cannelton, was stopped on SR 545 near Santa Claus, waiting for vehicles in front of her to turn left, when her 2008 Ford Focus was struck from behind by a 2014 Hyundai Sonata driven by 18-year-old Kiana Robbins of Owensboro, KY. The impact pushed Bye’s car into a ditch on the right side of the roadway. Neither driver was injured in the September 17, 5:40 a.m. collision, but damages were estimated between $5,000-10,000.
Both drivers injured in collision
Rebecca Kaelin, 58, of Evansville, was stopped and waiting to make a turn onto CR 350 W in Rockport when, she told police, her 2017 Ford Escape was struck from behind by a 1999 Ford Expedition driven by 42-year-old Elizabeth James of Tell City. James allegedly told police she had looked down to grab her drink from the cup-holder and did not notice Kaelin had stopped until it was too late to do so herself. Both drivers were transported by EMS to the hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained in the September 19, 3:35 p.m. accident. Total damage was estimated between $ 5,000-10,000.
Driver injured in crash
Delbert Michel, 77, of Newburgh, was eastbound on SR 66 in Rockport, and had started to slow due to traffic being stopped in front of him, when his 2009 Mazda was struck from behind by a 2015 Dodge Charger driven by 33-year-old Adriane Kluck of Rockport. Kluck allegedly told police at the scene that she was unable to stop in time. Michel was transported by EMS to Deaconess Gateway for further evaluation after complaining of neck pain, while Kluck was not injured. Damages in the September 19, 3:50 p.m. accident were estimated between $5,000-10,000.
Driver cited after collision
Jacob Hagedorn, 17, of Dale, was northbound on US 231 in Dale, driving a John Deere tractor pulling a rake, when he was struck from behind by a 2019 Ford Eco Sport driven by 21-year-old Kelsey Odom of Evansville. According to police, Odom had been texting on her cell phone when she struck the tractor; she was issued a citation for distracted driving. Neither Hagedorn nor Odom were injured in the September 20, 6:45 p.m. collision, but total damages were estimated between $25,000-50,000.
