Spencer County COVID-19 cases are at an all-time high due to the highly contagious delta variant.  The CDC, Indiana State Department of Health and the Spencer County Health Department strongly recommend the following strategies to protect yourself, your family and others around you:

Get Vaccinated– ages 12 and older are eligible.  While it is possible, but much less likely, to contract COVID-19 if fully vaccinated, vaccination greatly decreases your chances of hospitalization and death. Register at ourshot.in.gov.  Spencer County Health Department offers all 3 brands of COVID vaccine.

Mask up! Especially when indoors. Ages 2 and up. Mask should cover your nose and mouth.

Socially distance. A person is contagious up to 2 days before symptom onset

Avoid crowds. Being in crowds increases your chance of exposure.

Stay home if you are ill. COVID testing is recommended 48 hours after symptom onset.

Wash your hands. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

Please take the health of those around you into consideration as you go out in public during this time of greater spread.  Let’s all take precautions now so we can get through this surge as quickly as possible and get back to normalcy!
