Doris Jean Witte 88, of Evansville, formerly of Dale, died on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at Woodlands Nursing Home in Newburgh.
Jean was born in Scottsville, Kentucky on Sept. 7, 1932, and raised in Clearwater, Florida. She moved to Dale in 1950, where she married her husband, Richard “Gail” Witte, who preceded her in death in 2009.
Gail and Jean had three children, Vikki (Mike) Reiter of New Albany, Rick (Regina) Witte of Evansville and Sarah (Kenny) Neighbors of Santa Claus; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Jean was quite active in her community with the PTA, Band Boosters and was one of the original members of the Dale Fall Festival Steering Committee. She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Boston and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Evansville. She was currently a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Evansville.
Jean was known for her great love for music, her vibrant personality, as well as her kind and compassionate spirit. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 15 at Christian Fellowship Church in Evansville. Private burial followed in Dale Cemetery.
