Ronald J. Schaefer, 76, of Dale, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
Ronnie was born in Adyeville on January 26, 1944, to Hilbert and Leona (Persohn) Schaefer. He was united in marriage with Rita “Ridy” Litkenhus on June 26, 1965, at Saint Joseph Church in Dale.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Church. A former President of the parish council, he was on the maintenance committee, and an usher and previously played bass guitar in the choir. He was selected into the Simon Bruté Society.
A member of Mariah Hill Conservation Club, and Jasper Outdoor Recreation Club, he enjoyed playing golf with his three sons, woodworking, and being with family. He retired from Kimball after 51 years of service.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Rita “Ridy” Schaefer; three sons, Jeff (Lisa) Schaefer and Jim (Kyla) Schaefer, both of Dale, and Joe (Kathy) Schaefer of Bardstown, Kentucky; six grandsons, one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters; and two brothers, Jerry (Ruth) Schaefer and Stanley (Linda) Schaefer, both of Jasper.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A mass of Christian burial for Ronald J. Schaefer will be held Monday, October 19, at 10 a.m. CT in St. Joseph Church in Dale. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. CT Sunday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, and after 9 a.m. CT Monday at the church.
