Pastor Roberta J. “Berta” Meyer, age 73, of Holland, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand.
She was born February 13, 1949, in Rosebud, Illinois, to Robert H.L. and Emily June (Shiftlet) Huddleston. She married David Gene Meyer on November 27, 1987 at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland.
She held a master’s degree in both Education and Divinity. Roberta was a teacher at Scott Elementary School in Evansville for 35 years, served as a Diaconal Minister with the Heritage Hills Youth Program for five years, was involved with the Lutheran Synod, and currently served for 10 years as Pastor of Grace and Peace Lutheran Church in Evansville. She was a creative soul who loved to paint, draw, write poetry, and blow bubbles. She enjoyed horses, swimming, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Roberta also loved the tranquility of watching dragonflies and hummingbirds from her gazebo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Dereck Blocker.
Roberta is survived by her husband, David Meyer of Holland; children, Amy Blocker of Huntingburg, Jake (Kelly) Alexander of Monroe City, Emily (Anthony) Spinner of Holland; a sister, Carol (Gary) Meyerholtz of Huntingburg; a brother, Rolla Thomas Huddleston; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. (EDT) on Monday, June 20, at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.
Services will be held at Grace and Peace Lutheran Church in Evansville on Tuesday, June 21 at 1:00 p.m. (EDT). Friends may call before the service from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (EDT). Assistant to the Bishop, Dan Fugate will officiate the service. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
