Larry D. Williams, 74, of Rockport, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Larry was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 12, 1948, to the late Ernie and Pauline (McGill) Williams.
Larry was an outgoing, outspoken, hardworking man, and a teacher and provider for his family. He was very sociable and loved to talk to people. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and racing go-carts with his grandson, Tony. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Larry proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After his military service, he worked as a mechanic before retiring from INDOT after 34 years of service.
He was a member of Bethel Christian Center in Reo and of American Legion Post 254.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Craig Williams; his brothers, Donnie and Steve Williams; and his grandson, Tony Ayala.
Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane Williams; his daughter, Angie Ayala; his granddaughters, Olivia Ayala and Aaliyah; his great-granddaughters, Alaina and Violet; his brother, David Williams; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 12, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Walter Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 254.
