Ronald “Ron” Inman, 75, of Hatfield, passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2026.
He was born June 14, 1951, in Bloomington, to the late Johanna “Nonnie” and C.E. “Bub” Inman.
He grew up in Bloomington, attended University High School, and remained a lifelong fan of his beloved IU Hoosiers.
Humble and quiet by nature, Ron possessed a steady, reassuring presence that never required many words. He was strong, kind, dependable, and deeply devoted to the people he loved. He believed in working hard, doing things the right way, and being there when someone needed him. These values shaped both his work and how he cared for his family.
Ron was a proud lifelong member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA), spending 42 years as a skilled pipefitter with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union No. 136 before retiring in 2011. He took immense pride in his craft and in providing for his family. He was also a Mason, valuing the fraternity’s fellowship, service, and traditions.
Ron met the love of his life, Sandi, and they married on June 30, 1979. Together they built a life centered around their family and shared nearly 44 years of marriage before Sandi passed away in June 2023, just two days shy of their anniversary. Those who knew them find deep comfort in knowing they are reunited once again.
An avid outdoorsman, Ron enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping, and tending his home garden. His annual tomato and cucumber crops were his pride and joy. Following retirement, Ron and Sandi fulfilled a longtime dream of buying an RV to travel the country. When Indiana winters arrived, they headed south to Miami to enjoy the sunshine and spend time with their daughter Kara, son-in-law Mauricio, and granddaughter Sofia. Their cross-country adventures spanned from coast to coast, often shared with their granddaughters, including a special RV trip to California for their granddaughter Briénna’s wedding to Blake Fogle.
Of all the roles Ron held throughout his life, being Papaw was among those he treasured most. His four granddaughters were a tremendous source of pride and joy, and they always knew their Papaw loved, supported, and protected them through his constant presence.
Ron lived without seeking recognition, a quiet strength that made his family feel safe and cared for.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Spurrier (Jim), Kara Burbano (Mauricio), and Lydia Inman; his cherished granddaughters, Briénna Fogle (Blake), Jolene Spurrier, Sofía Burbano, and Jessalyn Spurrier; his brother, Frank Inman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandi; his parents; his brother, Gary Inman; and his nephew, Michael Inman.
A memorial service will be held at Boultinghouse Funeral Home on October 17 at 10 a.m. Ron’s absence will be felt beyond measure, but the love, lessons, and steady example he leaves behind will stay with his family forever.
Instead of flowers, please make donations in his name to Parker Cemetery or Local 136 Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union.
