Carl Gene Bittel, (Deaner) 81, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024.

He was born on August 3, 1942, to Paul and Marie Bittel in Owensboro, Kentucky.

He was such an incredible man! His life was his family, and he would do anything to ensure their needs were met and that they were happy. No matter how he felt, he made things happen. Many summers were spent having cookouts, camping, late nights in the shelter outback, just talking for hours. He was always positive, and never angry. He didn’t gossip and he loved to see everyone happy. He was sentimental and precious, strong and steady. He would never let the family down. “Our family lost the greatest man, and we will mourn his loss forever. We were so blessed to have had him for all those special years!”

He had many hobbies and made friends everywhere he went. He loved spending time with his family, seeing his little great-grandchildren, watching the NASCAR race, working in his yard and around the house, going to the movies, double dates, game nights, just to name a few. He loved summertime and sitting on their front porch, just talking, and enjoying the days.

In 1959, he married Barbara Moore, at just 16 years of age. They spent 65 amazing years together. They have three children, Pammy Bittel Brown (Corky), Carl Bittel, Jr. (Angela) and Rhonda Bittel Ramsey (Steve). They have six grandchildren, Christina Brown Hardin (Eric), Curtis Brown (Jenna), Matthew Bittel Boggs (Cory), Travis Bittel (Rachel), Ariel Ramsey Harper (Brandon), and Cheyenne Ramsey Kelsey (Colton) and former daughter-in-law, Gayle Bittel. Great-grandchildren are Domonic and Draxton Bittel, Melody Ramsey, Dawson and Jessa Hardin, and Beau and Layla Brown.

He was preceded by his brothers, Gilbert Pate, Melvin Pate and Delbert Bittel, sister Lois Moore and survived by sister, Francis Millay, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday April 3, from 4-6 p.m., at Boultinghouse Funeral Home 527 Main St. Rockport.
