Joseph Earl Clary, Sr., 90, of Rockport, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at his home.
Joe was born in Henderson County, Kentucky on January 21, 1934, to the late Joseph and Myrtle (Fulkerson) Clary.
Joe worked in the mines for many years and was a devoted member of the UMWA. He was also a lineman for many years, and worked a short while at Flatridge Trucking and Western Kentucky Minerals. At a young age, he was also a timber cutter and a logger.
He enjoyed working in the garden and was famous for his grilled chicken.
Joe was a member of Mt. Zion Church and Rockport Masonic Lodge No. 112.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his children, Angie Cox, Sandy Clary, Janie Clary, Sheila Joyce Bess, Bryan K. Clary and Kenny Clary; his brother, Don Clary, and two sisters, Jean Boone and Marie Carrico.
Joe is survived by his wife of 35 years, N. Jane Clary; children, Joseph Earl Clary, Jr. (Judy), William Clary, Roger D. Clary (Sylvia), Joseph Eugene Clary (Tammy), Patrick Clary, Donna G. Mattingly, Pamela J. Goins (Charlie) JoNell Clary, Patti Mosley, William “Butch” Burton, David Burton and Mike Burton (Jemetta); sisters, Normie Babbs and Brenda Day; brother, Bob Clary; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and 24 step-great-grandchildren.
A Masonic Service will be held at 11:45 a.m., Friday, November 29, followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Jimmy Ahl officiating. Burial will follow Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 until 11:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
