Samuel McNeely, 86, of Rockport,passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

Sam was born February 7, 1940 to John and Rittie (Cox) McNeely in Pine Bluff, AR.

Sam served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He retired after many years of service from Alcoa, in Warrick County.

Sam had a great love for the Lord and was a faithful member of Landmark Bible Church in Rockport, where he loved to teach Sunday School and was active in the children’s ministry.  Sam at one time was a pastor and would fill the pulpit when needed.

Sam loved to hunt and be outside, he enjoyed traveling and had been to 48 of the fifty states and many different countries around the world. He was always learning and studying. He was a big jokester and loved a good prank at work and at home. He was a poet, and wrote poetry to his loving wife Jewell over the years. Sam was a family man and loved his family dearly.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Pogue, and two brothers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Jewell McNeely; daughters, Stacey Dixon (Joseph), Jennifer Saunders (Vernon), Delana Blankenship and Samantha Hays (Todd); ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. 

Services for Sam were held on Monday March 16, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Todd Hays officiated the services and burial took place at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport.
