Anna M. Bruggenschmidt, 75, Evansville

Anna Marie Bruggenschmidt, 75, of Evansville, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville. 

Anna was born in Tell City on August 28, 1948, to Max and Margaret (Graves) Bruggenschmidt. She was a long time educator and principal for the Diocese of Evansville serving at St. Joseph School, Sts. Peter and Paul School, St. Phillip School, and St. Theresa School. Anna was a joyful, hardworking lady with a heart for helping others. She was dedicated to her church, St. Joseph’s, and served in many roles over the years. She loved cooking and canning, visiting with many life-long friends, church family, and surrogate children.

Anna is survived by her stepmother, Mildred Bruggenschmidt; siblings, Mary Brothers, Madonna Hummel, Susie (Tom) Newkirk, David (Charlynn) Bruggenschmidt, Anita (Jon) Vos, and Norma Vaughn; and by many nieces and nephews. 

Anna was preceded in death by her loving parents; siblings, Bonnie Bruggenschmidt and Steve Bruggenschmidt; and by a great-niece, Kate Bruggenschmidt. 

Friends may visit from 3 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 547 Elm St., Rockport, with Father Gene Schroeder celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Church Cemetery.
