Bruce D. Hazelip, 80, of Evanston, passed away on July 21, 2026 at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville surrounded by family. He was born on October 11, 1945 to the late Wiley Sr. and Delores (Bennett) Hazelip in Evansville. Bruce attended Central High School and later received his GED. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy (four years) and the U.S. Army National Guard (eight years). He later retired from Alcoa after 34 years of service.
Bruce married Christine “Chris” Hazelip (Connor) on April 23, 1966 and they enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. He cherished his family and friends who became family. In his free time, Bruce enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and baking. He was especially known for his barbecue, lemon meringue pies, and coconut cream pies.
Those left to celebrate his memory are his wife, Christine; siblings Bill Hazelip, David (Cookie) Hazelip, Charmaine Peters, Sue (Jim) Carnahan, and Ann (Rick) Springer; children Bruce “Del” (Kristi) Hazelip, Brian (Sandy) Hazelip, Brett (Stephanie) Hazelip, and Leslie (Dave Sr.) Novak; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
In honor of his wishes, no service will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held on August 22nd, at the Grandview Civic Center from 1 to 4 p.m. CDT.
