Charles Robert “Bob” Richards, Sr., 74, of Rockport, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020, at his home.

He was born in Rockport on April 10, 1946, to the late John and Corena (Hutchison) Richards.

A United States Air Force veteran, he served during Vietnam. Bob retired from ALCOA after 30 years of service, where he was an electrician and a volunteer fireman. He was also an Ohio Township volunteer fireman and served as Ohio Township trustee.

Bob enjoyed a variety of activities including assembling model planes and ships, watching his grandkids play sports, watching Notre Dame football and basketball, watching Westerns (especially Gunsmoke and Longmire), and listening to Toby Keith music. He was a die-hard Republican, following politics, Trump, and Fox News.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Richards; his children, Charles Richards, Jr. and Marc Richards (Jennifer); grandchildren, Marcus Richards (Dina), Michael Richards, Alex Richards, Sydney Richards, and Nathan Richards; great-grandchild, Carter Richards; siblings, Marion “Knobbie” Young (Warren), Judy Lindsey, and Johnny Richards; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Joe Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday.
