Chris Edward Alvey, 59, passed away September 12, 2022, at IU Health University Hospital, Indianapolis, surrounded by his family.

He was born October 12, 1962, to Ralph and Bernadine Alvey.

Chris graduated from Tell City High School in 1981 and was united in marriage on April 16, 1998 to Carol Kelley. He was a proud member of Boilermakers Local 374 where he served as a Forman on several jobs.

Family was important to Chris. When someone needed a helping hand, he was there and eager to help with a family project; building garages, decks, fences and doing electrical work. As one of 14 children, many sports were played during family get-togethers and Chris was always happy to join in. He loved going fishing and playing cards with his brothers. While living in Florida, he enjoyed refereeing sporting events and helping with St. Bernadette’s Catholic School and Church. He grew up in and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and volunteered many hours with Perry County Habitat for Humanity.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Alvey; children, Suzanne Brucken, Joshua Alvey, Mary Grace Alvey (Aaron Lutgring) and extra daughter, Monica Perryman; grandchildren, Cavan Breitweiser, Christian Alvey, Caleb and Caitlin Tyree and Beauregard, Mia and Cooper Alvey; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Grayson Breitweiser and Raylynn (arriving in December); brothers and sisters, Terry (Linda) Alvey, Mona (Joe) Goffinet, Byron (Lucy) Alvey, Susan (Tom) Hughes, Ralph (Marilyn) Alvey, David (Patsy) Alvey, Patricia (Jim) Huffman, Bill (Wendy) Alvey, Paul (Ginger) Alvey, Julie (Davies) Bellamy, Jackie (Jerry) Witvoet, and Kevin (Diane) Alvey; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Beth James; two great-nephews Noah James and Kieran Paauwe; and a niece, Holly Finley Clark.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. CDT on Saturday, September 17, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Tony Hollowell will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
