Clara E. Kreilein, 95, of Jasper, passed away at 10:23 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at the Timbers of Jasper.

She was born in Rockport on December 29, 1924, to Joseph and Thresie (Schulte) Hurm. She married Roman Kreilein on September 2, 1950, in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Rockport. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1996.

Clara was a 1943 graduate of Rockport High School.

She was a homemaker and previously worked for United Cabinet, Danner’s 3-D, and cooked for the priests and nuns at Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, St. Ann’s Society, Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Holy Family Catholic Church, and the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed cooking and playing with her dog.

Surviving are one daughter, Joyce Kreilein of Jasper; one son, Fr. Ron Kreilein of Rockport; and her dog, Josh.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were four sisters, Anna Hurm, Sophie Wallace-Zarlenga, Frances Hurm and Marie Biever, and one brother, Bernard Hurm.

A Mass of Christian burial for Clara E. Kreilein will be held at 10 a.m. EDT on Monday, September 28, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. EDT on Sunday, September 27, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services from 9-10 a.m. EDT at the church. The St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Rockport, St. Martin 1st Catholic Church in Chrisney, Heart-to-Heart Hospice or to a favorite charity.
