It is with deep sadness to announce Dakota Hack, age 28, suddenly passed away on June 26, 2026.
Dakota was born on August 24, 1997, in Evansville, to his parents Carrie Gammon and Rickey Hack. He was known for his kindness, sense of humor, generosity, and his creativity. He touched the lives of everyone who got the opportunity to meet him.
Dakota found a lot of joy in fishing, writing, drawing, and listening to music. He had a great love for his family and pets. He will always be remembered most by his witty humor and his smile.
After a courageous struggle with mental illness challenges, Dakota passed from suicide. His family hopes their story reminds others that no one has to face these struggles alone and encourages anyone who is hurting to reach out for help.
Dakota is survived by his mother, Carrie Gammon; father, Rickey Hack; step-father, Scott McKinney; his sister, Destiny Hack; half-sister Brittney Nesmith.
A celebration of life/memorial service will be held at a later date.
Though Dakota’s time with us was far too short, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain in our hearts forever.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with Dakota’s final expenses.
