Heritage Hills Patriots tied with the Castle Knights for top honors in the IHSAA Girls’ Swim Sectional at Southridge High School last Saturday, and Kristi Koch finished as the top individual of the meet with a 40-point total!

Kristi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Koch of Santa Claus, won the 200 yard individual medley, the 100 yard breaststroke and swam a leg of the Patriot’s winning 200 medley relay team.

Six Patriot for the state swim meet today and tomorrow at Ball State University pool in Muncie. In addition to Koch, a first place medal was won by Val King in the 50 yard freestyle King and Koch joined teammates Georgann Sisley and Susie Vaal to win the 200 yard medley relay. Georgann also finished second in the 200 individual medley and the 100 yard butterfly to qualify for the state in both events. Jamie Snow also qualified for the state finals with a second place finish in the 200 freestyle. Susie Vaal took second to qualify in the 100 freestyle and Cindy Bettag was second in the 500 freestyle.

Heritage Hills and Castle each totaled 258 points, in front of Bedford, North Lawrence 245, Southridge 113, Pike Central 98, Washington 92 and South Spencer 90.
