Darren N. VanConia, 54, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Darren was born on December 17, 1971, in Owensboro, Kentucky to Ronald “Ronnie” and Sondra (Reed) VanConia. He was a 1990 graduate of Tell City High School. On May 19, 2007, he was united in marriage with his beloved wife, Laurie, with whom he shared many years of love and devotion.

He grew up attending Seventh Street Baptist Church in Cannelton, where his faith was rooted, and more recently attended Chrisney Baptist Church.

Darren was a longtime employee of Waupaca Foundry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

He greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Darren had a playful spirit, loved pulling practical jokes, and found joy in making others laugh. Above all, he took pride in caring for and protecting those he loved.

Surviving Darren are his wife, Laurie VanConia; his children, Remington (Kali) Parks and Macedonia Parks; and his cherished granddaughter, Carolyn Parks and his extended family that he loved so much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronnie and Sondra VanConia; his grandparents, Merle and Madeline Harpenau, and Maurice and Violet Reed.

Darren will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brother Brandon Rice will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-7 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Chrisney Baptist Church.
