Don Rene Mangel, age 60, of Holland, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born November 12, 1958, in Huntingburg, to Maurice and Peggy Mae [Wampler] Mangel. Don was a graduate of Southridge High School, Oakland City University with an auto technician’s degree, and Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree. He was currently employed at Toy’s Auto Parts in Huntingburg; and was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church and the Jasper Coin Club.
Don was a passionate mechanic, an avid coin collector, enjoyed camping and boating – especially water skiing, was a NASCAR fan, and loved being with his family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Don is survived by his wife, Sandy [Denton] Mangel of Holland; four children, Misty (fiancé, Chris Aders) Mangel of Bristow, Henry (Megan) Mangel of Louisville, KY, Toni (Ben) Frick of Ferdinand and Meredith Mangel of Vincennes; two stepchildren, Misty (Matt) Jones of Evansville and Audrey Fleck of Jasper; one brother, Richard “Dick” (Brenda J.) Mangel of Holland; and by 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services for Don Mangel will be held at 12 noon, EST, on Saturday, November 9, at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at the Zoar Cemetery. Rev. Joe Kamman will officiate at the service.
