According to Spencer County Coroner Rachel Gentry, the first COVID-19 death of a Spencer County resident was reported last Friday, May 1.
The victim was a 65 year-old female who was employed at Signature Healthcare in Newburgh. She died at a local hospital from complications secondary to COVID-19 and as of Friday, was one of five confirmed COVID-19 cases in Spencer County.
