SANTA CLAUS – At 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, December 6, the Santa Claus Museum & Village will present a free violin and cello concert in the 1880 Santa Claus Church. The melodic performance features a violin by Lisa Lance and cello played by Diane Fowler.
Diane Fowler started her love of cello in the 6th grade and continues today. The love of music continued in her career with the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for 40 years. Diane also played with the Evansville Philharmonic for 47 years. She continues to play cello in different venues.
Lisa Lance began playing the violin in the 4th grade in New Albany. She participated in the Louisville Jefferson County Youth Orchestra under the direction of Rubin Sher while in high school. She continued her love for music at the University of Evansville. Lisa recently retired after 41 years of teaching classroom music at J.H. Castle Elementary in Newburgh. She is currently in her 45th year with the Evansville Philharmonic. Lisa and her husband, Richard, are church musicians in Boonville.
In addition to the free concert, visitors pay no entrance fee to tour the museum, browse the gift shop, visit the 22 foot Santa, enter the 1880 Santa Claus Church and children are encouraged to write letters to Santa in the historic Santa Claus Post Office.
The Santa Claus Museum & Village is a not-for-profit organization which seeks to preserve the history of the town of Santa Claus and perpetuate the tradition of answering thousands of children’s letters to Santa.
