Gene Hufnagel, 82, Dale

Gene “Huffie” Hufnagel, 82, of Dale, passed away at 2:42 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019, in Dale.

He was born March 8, 1937, in Warrick County, to Bernard and Ida (Stallman) Hufnagel. He retired after working in the smelting department of Alcoa Warrick Operations, and he treasured the friendships he made throughout his years there. Gene and his wife Faye ran the raffle booth at the Dale Fall Fest for a number of years. He continued to actively support the Fest and looked forward to its arrival each year. He loved sitting out back watching the bird feeders, collecting John Deere memorabilia, drinking Coca Cola, and driving around Dale on his golf cart supervising town activities. His favorite times were spent visiting with family and friends. Gene will always be remembered for his positivity and his selflessness.

Surviving are his three children, Terry (Missie) Hufnagel of Newburgh, Debra Hufnagel of Huntsville, Alabama and Rebecca McLaughlin of Dale; five siblings, Malee (Ralph) Burress of Dale, Jerry Hufnagel and Janice (Richard) Rainwaters of Aiken, South Carolina, Rick Hufnagel of Santa Claus, and Dan (Carolyn) Hufnagel of Reo; six grandchildren, Amanda (Nathan) Forbey, Ashley Hufnagel, Tonya (Earl) Borders, Tony (Lindsey) Westenhofer, Craig (Christy) Westenhofer and Brittany (Casey) Williams; and 14 great-grandchildren.
