Janis Gayle Montgomery, 86, of Logansport, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, with her sister by her side.
She was born in Rockport on August 1, 1935, to the late Harwood and Mary Pattie.
Janis graduated from Richland High School in Richland, and married Harry August Montgomery. He enlisted in the U.S. Army as a radioman, and at the age of 19 they were stationed in England.
She graduated from Evansville College with a Bachelor’s degree in education, and he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. She enjoyed working as a high school teacher of secretarial subjects.
Her hobbies and interests included family, tennis, playing bridge, other card games and bingo, and keeping up on current events by reading everything in sight. She loved the water, Lake Erie, and enjoyed nature, especially birds and butterflies. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members.
In addition to her parents, Janis was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Montgomery; and her daughter, Pattie Montgomery.
She is survived by her son, Michael Montgomery and his wife, Jennifer; her granddaughter, Alexandra; and her sister, Deanna Gordon.
A graveside service was held on Sunday, May 22, at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport.
