Larry Dawson Adkins passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Linda E. White Hospice Home in Evansville, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born February 17, 1942, in Hawesville, Kentucky to Eugene and Gertrude (Stewart) Adkins, and was the oldest of five children.
Larry married Lanita (Gaston) Adkins on August 19, 1963, and they share two children, Duane A. Adkins and Nikki J. (Adkins) Mitchell.
Larry was a member of Rockport First United Methodist Church for many years. Throughout the years Larry had many interests and jobs; he was an electronics repairman and loved his gadgets and T.V. He worked for Big Rivers Electric Company in Owensboro, Kentucky and retired from there. After his retirement he delivered flowers for a local florist.
Larry enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, his Kentucky Wildcats, westerns and the news. You could also find him at Diamond Lanes South bowling, where he not only enjoyed the sport but the friends he made.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Joetta (Adkins) Keown, and his beloved Dachshund, Dash.
Larry is survived by his wife, Lanita Adkins; his son, Duane Adkins and daughter Nikki Mitchell; his grandchildren, Shelby Adkins, Kaitlyn Adkins, Briana Adkins, Lauren Harrison, Braden Mitchell, Gavin Mitchell, Konnor Mitchell; great-grandson, Fable Schmitt; and his sisters, Katherine Druen, Nora Ann Powers and Rita Bright.
Funeral services for Larry were held on Monday, August 18, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Julie Wells officiating.
