Larry Ray Shelton, 75, of Hatfield, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at his home.

He was born in Washington, on November 7, 1945, to the late Raymond and Della (Allen) Shelton.

Larry was a lay pastor with the Methodist church and had spoken at many churches in the area.

He retired from the University of Southern Indiana and had continued to volunteer with their athletic department for 28 years. Larry loved sports and had refereed volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Horn) Shelton; his children, Mike Shelton and his wife, Cindy, of Rockport, and Darren Shelton and his wife, Wendy, of Boonville; his grandchildren, Shane Shelton, Sammy Shelton, Riley Shelton, Chase Shelton and Raegan Shelton; his siblings, Carolyn Crafton of Shelbyville, Bill Shelton and his wife, Lori, of Mesa, AZ, Rick Shelton and his wife, Annetta, of Merrillville and  Rodney Shelton and his wife, Theresa, of English; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Rodney Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in James Parker Cemetery in Hatfield.

Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m., Monday, October 11, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Southern Indiana Athletic Department.
