Lee Edgar Ruxer, 91, of Evansville, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Braun’s Nursing Home.

He was born in St. Meinrad on January 19, 1928, to the late Frank and Aurelia (Becher) Ruxer. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving one year in the Philippines during WWII. He was owner of Ruxer Cabinet Shop for 13 years before starting Ruxer Contracting with his son, Dan, in 1973, working until retirement.

He was a member of the VFW Post No. 1114 and a past member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Dan Ruxer and his daughter, Nita Ruxer, both of Evansville, and a sister, Ann Volz of Evansville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella “Sally” (Waldhier) Ruxer; a daughter, Sherry Ruxer; and siblings, Catherine Sergesketter, Genevieve Volz and Charles Ruxer.

A celebration of Lee’s life will be held at 1 p.m. CST on Thursday, November 14, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue in Evansville. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. CST until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
