Rava M. Pinkston Rico, 47, of Rockport, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

Rava was born on November 14, 1974, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to Charles and Janet Lee (August) Pinkston.

Her hidden talent and passion was poetry. One of her poems was published in a book in 2014. She loved collecting antiques and stamps.

As a young woman, she was an avid boxer and was part of a family tradition spanning three generations that evolved into MMA fighting. Rava was also on the dean’s list for her academic achievements with a 4.0 GPA when she was in college.

Rava lived a wonderful life as a loving mother, homemaker, and someone you could go to for anything, without judgment. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends as an upstanding, beautiful soul.

She was gifted with many talents, a “Jack of All Trades” as she would say. She was also a CNA, a barrel racer, and was a bilingual translator. She lived her life to the fullest, with many stories to tell. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Jesus Rico, whom she married on April 30, 2001; her children, Timothy (David) Pinkston, Alena, Janet and Selena Perez; Carmella and Jesus Rico, Jr.; her grandchild, Jax Whitacker; nieces, Asia and Lorelei Pinkston, and Diamond Fentress; her brother Charles Pinkston, Jr; and her sister, Emerald Fentress. Her family loved her dearly, and will never forget her wit, free spirit, charm, and undying love and care for them.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
