Redemption Christian Church — with campuses in Jasper and Loogootee — will transition to in-person gatherings on June 14, with specific times to be announced at a later date.

Since March 13, when Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb requested gatherings be limited to no more than 10 people, Redemption has been gathering as individuals and families in homes via digital gatherings.

Now, with further guidance — and a roadmap — from state government, a timeline has been set to return to in-person gatherings.

From May 10 through June 13, Redemption will continue to utilize digital gatherings — with the addition of encouraging safe gatherings of no more than 25 people — in homes. Community Groups are encouraged to gather as each person deems appropriate for themselves and their families. Additionally, those 65 and older and those with high-risk health conditions are encouraged to remain at home whenever possible, per state guidelines.

Redemption’s goal, as it stands currently, is to return to in-person worship gatherings on Sunday, June 14 at the church’s Jasper and Loogootee locations. To ensure safety of all people, the following changes from normal in-person gatherings will be implemented:

• Digital gatherings will continue to be offered for those most at-risk and those who feel uneasy gathering in person for the time being.

• There will be no nursery or children’s programming at any in-person gatherings for the foreseeable future. However, elements to help families with children get the most from each gathering will be a part of the in-person service.

• Proper social distancing protocols will be observed at all facilities.

• A registration system will be implemented to ensure rooms don’t exceed standards set by the state and health officials.

• Where and when necessary, more than one room at Redemption locations may be utilized.

• To assist in sanitation procedures, all Redemption facilities will remain closed to all but Sunday worship in-person gatherings for the foreseeable future.

While Indiana state officials gave additional clarification and approval on May 4 for churches to resume in-person gatherings as early as May 8, Redemption believes giving an extra month to open facilities is a prudent and wise decision — allowing time for all systems and people to be ready to do all things properly.

All things are subject to change as circumstances change.
