Richard Lewis “Dick” James, 79, of Rockport, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born on September 23, 1940 in Evansville, to the late Carl and Eloise (Crafton) James.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed working on antique tractors, IU basketball, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He had been a truck driver for many years. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Apple Fest.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lillian James of Rockport; children, Mike James and his wife, Teresa, of Rockport and Kathy Mason and her husband, Kelvin, of Newburgh; grandchildren, Nathan James and his wife, Kelley, of Rockport, Christopher James of Nashville, TN, and Alyssa Mason of Newburgh; great-grandchildren, John Richard James, Dean James, Tucker James and Cooper James; and siblings, Genell Kanzler and her husband, Fred, and Sandy Tullis and her husband, Terry.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dean James and Robert James.

Services for Dick James will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Mike Turner officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Lamar.

Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
