Ronald Winkler, age 86, of Richland, passed away on January 9, 2026. He was loved by many as Duck, Boxcar, Ronnie, Ron, and most importantly to him, Dad and Papaw. He was surrounded by love and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was born in Evansville on July 10,1939, to Ralph Winkler and Dorothy (Lusk) Winkler.

A 1959 graduate of Rockport High School, Ronald worked as a paper boy and a lifeguard at Lincoln City in his school years. After school he worked at M&P and as a mechanic until later working at Alcoa until his retirement.

Ronnie was a man who meant so much to his family. He was loving, strong, and always there for the people he cared about. He had a way of making others feel safe and loved, and his presence brought comfort to everyone around him.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, going on trail rides, spending weekends at horse shows, car shows, going on motorcycle and boat rides, and collecting trains. He loved creating memories that will never be forgotten. His love for his children and grandchildren was endless, and he was always proud of the family he built.

Ronald is survived by his close family, including his sister, Karen Winkler; children, Brett Winkler, Dina Winkler, Patricia Winkler and Ali Winkler; grandchildren, Sabrina Winkler, Teal (Nick) Bailey, Jordan (Alex) Bailey, Nia Wilson, Cohen Bailey, Theodore Winkler, and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews,

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his high school love Judy B Thurman-Winkler.

Though he may no longer be with us, his love, lessons, and memories will live on forever in our hearts.

Ronnie’s viewing will be held on Friday, January 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with services following at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, where friends and family are welcome to gather in remembrance and honor his life.
