Sandi Inman, 75, of Hatfield, IN passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Sandi was born on June 23, 1948, to the late Dorothy and Roy Ellison in Alameda, CA. She was a graduate of South Spencer High School. Sandi is survived by her husband Ron along with their three daughters: Mrs. Lisa (Hawkins) Spurrier, husband Jim, Mrs. Kara Burbano, husband Mauricio, and Lydia Inman, Brother-in-law, Frank Inman, Nieces and Nephews, Kaitlyn Lemmons, Jerry Britt, Terry Britt, Nicole Snyder, Stephanie Franklin, Johanna Inman, Frank Inman, Michael Inman, Emily Inman, Linda Hawkins Kashirsky, Deborah Hawkins Russell, Mary Hawkins. Great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Sandi met her husband, Ron, and they were married June 30, 1979. As a beloved wife, mother, and Granni, Sandi could often be wearing a smirk on her face that said a lot without her saying a word. Sandi was known for her humor, quick wit, and having a heart to serve others. If given the opportunity, Sandi would find a way to incorporate her favorite color purple into all aspects of life, which brought so much delight to all who loved her.
Sandi was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. She served in many roles ranging from scout leader to cookie chair to the TSD for Spencer and surrounding counties. One of her fondest parts of being involved with the Girl Scouts was serving as the Day Camp Director and taking the troops camping. She was a motivational and impactful influence in so many scouts’ lives. She believed there was nothing better than the bonding that could happen around a campfire (and enjoying the sweetness from a s’more or two).
Sandi was involved in Eastern Stars Richland Chapter for many years serving as Worthy Matron for 3 terms and serving as Grand Worthy secretary.
Sandi was a devoted homemaker and mother. As her kids got older, she got a job as bus driver for South Spencer Schools. She drove a route and for team trips. Through her work driving a school bus for South Spencer Schools, Sandi was able to serve her community daily by transporting students with disabilities. She loved and doted on those children along her bus route for many years.
Fulfilling a lifetime dream after retirement, Sandi along with her husband, Ron, bought an RV and traveled the country. During the cold winter months in Indiana, they packed up and headed south to Miami, FL to enjoy the sun and family time with their daughter Kara, her husband Mauricio and their daughter, and Sandi and Ron’s granddaughter, Sofia. When not snowbirding in Miami, they crisscrossed our beautiful nation taking in all of its sights from the East Coast to the West Coast. These adventures often involved her granddaughters, which were the light of her life. They even traveled in their RV all the way to California to attend Brienna’s wedding to her husband Blake Fogle.
Being a Granni came easy to her, as Sandi adored Brienna, Jolene, Sofia, and Jessalyn as much as they all adored her. The grandchildren often sought guidance and advice from their Granni since she was always willing to be a listening ear. Granni was happy to share her perspectives on these conversations with her granddaughters since she was known to have an opinion on most anything that was a topic of conversation. Granni’s adventurous spirit provided many great memories her granddaughters will always hold closely to their hearts.
In addition to her parents, Sandi is preceded in death by her sister Georgianna Britt and brother Leon Ellison.
