Shirley Annis Jolly (Richards), age 88, died at 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at The Waters of Rockport.
She was born in Rockport on December 6, 1937, to Davis and Marie (Pearlie) Lehr Richards.
Shirley graduated from Rockport High School in 1955. She attended Indiana University and then Kentucky Wesleyan College where she received her BS degree in Education in 1965. She completed her Masters of Education degree at University of Evansville in 1970.
Shirley began her teaching career at Luce Elementary School and then spent the remainder of her 30+ teaching years at Rockport Elementary School.
Shirley truly loved playing golf and competing in golf tournaments on her own and with her late husband John. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, following and watching Indiana University sports (especially basketball and football), gardening, and collecting antiques. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and then Mount Zion Church.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John Jolly. She is survived by her two children, Steve Jolly of Austin Texas and Lisa Jolly Lieberman of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Elizabeth Lieberman Shoup (Allen) and Jonathan Lieberman.
Services are 12 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Jim Ahl officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at the funeral home.
