Driver charged with OWI, drug possession

Twenty-two-year-old Rachel Young of Newburgh was westbound on CR 700 W near Richland when, according to the report, she disregarded the stop sign at CR 400 N and CR 700 W and ended up driving through a fence and into a field on private property. While interviewing Young, police detected an odor of alcohol on her person and report she was slightly off-balance; police say her car and body both smelled of marijuana, as well. Young submitted to a preliminary breath test at the scene, which showed her blood alcohol content to be 0.132. Marijuana and paraphernalia were also located on her person. A blood draw taken later showed Young’s blood alcohol content to be 0.133. Young, who was not injured, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person; operating a vehicle while intoxicated; operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.08 or more; possession of marijuana; possession of paraphernalia; and false informing.
