Right angle collision

Magdalen Kleeman Ward, 73, of Lamar, was northbound on SR 245 near Santa Claus when an eastbound 2015 Chevy Silverado pulled into her lane of travel from CR 1450 N. Kleeman Ward attempted to avoid striking the truck but was unable to do so, hitting its passenger side. The driver of the Silverado, 35-year-old Travis Sitzman of Tell City, admitted he was at fault for the accident and told officers he did not see Kleeman Ward’s car before attempting to cross through the intersection. Kleeman Ward experienced some chest discomfort but refused EMS treatment. Sitzman was not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, and total damages in the December 23, 8:51 a.m. accident were estimated between $25,000-50,000.

Driver cited after run-off

Kevin Gonzalez, 18, of Huntingburg, was northbound on Fulda Shortcut when, he later told police, he was driving too fast and ran off the roadway. The 2009 Toyota Corolla he was operating went into a ditch before flipping onto its top. Gonzalez was not injured in the December 16, 5:56 a.m. accident, but he was cited for driving without a license. Total damages, including to a culvert in a field at the accident scene, were estimated between $5,000-10,000.
