Collision sends four to hospital

Robert Browning, 35, of Owensboro, KY, was eastbound on SR 66 near Richland when a 1998 Chevrolet van pulled into his path from CR 950 W. Browning and all three of his passengers were transported by EMS to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville for immediate medical attention. The driver of the Chevrolet van, 34-year-old Joshua Hornback of Rockport, declined treatment from EMS and was cited for failure to yield right-of-way involving a motor vehicle collision and operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license. Both vehicles involved in the March 8, 6:25 p.m. collision received disabling damage, totaling between $25,000-50,000.

Ran off road

Lance Strain, 19, of Terre Haute, was eastbound on SR 70 near Grandview when he ran off the roadway and struck a fence. Strain was not injured in the March 11, 6:05 a.m. accident, but damage (to both the fence and Strain’s 2016 GMC Sierra) was estimated between $5,000-10,000.

Loses control, runs off road

Emma Sandy, 29, of Boonville, was westbound on I-64 when she swerved to avoid hitting a piece of debris in the roadway; however, instead of hitting her brake, Sandy told authorities she accidentally hit the gas, causing her to lose control and drive into a ditch on the north side of the road. Neither Sandy nor her passenger were injured in the March 11, 11:42 p.m. run-off. Sandy’s 2006 Nissan Altima, which Berg’s Garage removed from the ditch, was able to be driven from the scene.

Run-off

Dionisie Bogonovschi, 27, of Chicago, IL, was northbound on SR 161 in a 2020 Volvo semi when, he later told authorities, he felt the truck start pulling to the right and his front right steer tire went onto the shoulder of the road, causing him to lose control and run off the road and down into an embankment. Bogonovschi was not injured in the March 13, 12:58 p.m. accident, but damages were estimated between $50,000-100,000.

Rear-end collision

Grant Cross, 23, of Tell City, was stopped at the stop sign waiting to cross the intersection of SR 162 and SR 62 in Santa Claus, when his 1997 Chevrolet Conventional Cab was struck from behind by a 2012 GM Yukon driven by 28-year-old Amanda Pfeirer of Leopold. Neither driver was injured in the March 16, 5:18 a.m. collision. Damages were estimated between $1,000-2,500.
