The Southern Indiana Leathernecks Detachment 931 has kicked off its annual Toys for Tots campaign. Interested parties are encouraged to visit sildmarines.com and find the “TFT” page to request, donate toys or make monetary donations for the cause. Toys that are collected will go to disadvantaged children in the four counties surrounding and including Dubois County.

New procedures this year

Because of COVID-19, some new procedures are being implemented in the Toys for Tots campaign this year.

All requests for toys by individual families must be submitted online at sildmarines.com. Follow the prompts at the “TFT” page to request toys and print out the request form. After requesting toys, don’t forget to check your email regularly — this is how you will know when you are scheduled to pick up your toys. Bring this form and a photo ID and wear a mask.

Toy pickup times will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8 p.m. No one will be permitted for early pickup unless prior arrangements have been made. Pickups are at the 2020 TFT warehouse located at 410 E 4th Street in Jasper. Look for the Toys for Tots banner, then look for garage door 5. The pickup location has been set up as a drive-through to minimize exposures. People on-site will be assisting in the distribution of toys.

For those wanting to donate:

Monetary donations can be made through the website listed above.

Drop boxes will be deployed starting November 14 throughout the surrounding counties. The boxes will be picked up periodically and transported to the collection site for dispersal. The last date for pick-up will be December 19. Those wishing to participate are asked to do so prior to the last pick-up.

New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off at the following locations:

JASPER — Rural King, Doodlebug, the Sun Station, Holiday Foods, American Legion Post 147, Uebelhor Toyota, and Dollar General Stores (both north and south).

BIRDSEYE — Family Dollar, Birdseye Liquors, Patoka Marina.

HUNTINGBURG — Family Dollar and Dr. Pam Bus – All in 1 Chiropractic.

FERDINAND — CVS, Holiday Foods, and Dollar General.

FRENCH LICK — Family Dollar and Dollar General.

SANTA CLAUS — Christmas Lake Village and Dollar General.

Cash donation boxes are located at various places around the county. Be on the lookout for them at places like all the Sunny’s Circle A’s, the Local Casey’s, the north-side CITGO in Jasper and other locations.

Participation by way of a monetary donation will be accepted. Please make checks made payable to Toys for Tots and mailed to Marine Corps League, c/o TFT, P.O. Box 184, Jasper IN 47547-0184.
